Bad Hair Days?

There has been a war brewing for the last twenty-something years between me and my hair.  Unfortunately for me, my hair has been winning that war. But then last friday, things changed:) The Brazilian Keratin Chocolate Treatment may be the best thing EVER. I have naturally mixed hair. It’s half curly, half/wavy-frizzy. Meaning, I have spent hours of my life trying to style it so that it looks even mildly presentable. Its Shirley Temple curly on the bottom and just random on the top. It usually takes me about two hours to blow it out/flat iron/curl iron it. It’s a nightmare. So, with that said, I decided to take the money I would spend on the plethora of hair care products I would inevitably try and throw away, and spent it on the Brazilian Keratin Chocolate Treatment. Unlike its predecessor, which was invented in Brazil and formulated using Formaldehyde, this is completely Formaldehyde free.

The way it works is you wash your hair with a Clarifying Shampoo and do not condition it. The Keratin Treatment is then sprayed into your hair in four sections. It sits for around ten minutes, after which it is blow dryed and then meticulously flat-ironed. You have to leave it like this for 3 days, which sounds awful but actually, its a breeze. Your hair feels a little bit heavy like it has leave in conditioner, but its so straight and shiny you don’t even think about it. I left it in for 4 days just to be safe, lol. The test came when I washed it out. Would it look the same? Would it be virtually maintence free as promised? Would my hair just curl up like usual and squash my hopes? Yes, Yes and absolutely no! I washed it with the recommended Sulfate free Shampoo and Conditioner and couldn’t believe it. While it was wet it still had body too it, it wasnt pin straight (thank god…. pin straights not great either). It took me LITERALLY five minutes to blow dry it. NO frizz whatsoever. The underside of my hair was no longer unruly or curly. My hair was for the first time in my life…..uniform. The real test though came last night, when, as it often does, it rained in Miami. I was sure that my hair would expand, frizz and wave up. It did not!!!! I’m still kind of in disbelief, I’ve been dissapointed so many times before with promises of perfect hair. If I were ever to endorse a product, this would be it. It’s a fraction of the cost of the Japanese treatment, not to mention it is GOOD for your hair(not destructive), it’s not permanent (lasting 3-5 months) so if you want your mega curls back you can have them, and it’s progressive, so if you love it, the more you do it the more your hair will improve permanantly. Now, when I get out of the shower, in five minutes, my hair looks like this!

*Updated: A lot of people have been emailing me asking where they can buy this. Generally speaking, its supposed to be applied by a professional, though I think it’s really easy enough to do yourself. In any case,   this is the website for the actual product. If you aren’t able to buy it yourself, ask the person who usually does your hair to order it for their salon(they will make ALOT of money off it, so its a great investment)

I think the treatment is dangerous. They use Formadahyde for 3 days, on your HAIR.

But, whatever rocks your boat.
